増設の相談、DW1640外付け

名前： あじじ: NECのドライブが1ヶ月で故障したため交換になりました、古いサブPCで使用していたせっかくですのでメインPCにSATAがありSATA自体使用したことがないので内蔵増設してSATAに初挑戦してみようかと考えています。現在のメインPCの環境が

ASUS P4G800-V、電源 Acbel 400W (シリアル電源1個のみ付き）
CPU 3.0G／メモリ 512MB／サウンド・グラフィックオンボード
DW1640 IDE／A11J IDE
Seagate 160G HDD IDE／Seagate 300G HDD IDE

のPCです。SATAが2本余っているのですがパイオニアのSATAドライブを第一候補に他にNECかLGのSATAドライブでも検討中で内蔵で使用したいと考えているのですが上記のような構成で増設としてSATAを増設する事はできるでしょうか？マザーが古いし、電源も大丈夫なのかで動作も正常にできるか非常に悩んでいます。
どんなでしょうか？

HDDをSATAに換えて4つのIDEに光学なんてのが一番理想なのかも知れませんがSATAのHDDを購入する予算が今の所厳しいです。

DW1640は計測しか使用しておらず外付けにできればいいのですがAREA(管理人さんと同じシルバー版)で使用するとJitterのみ1％～2％内蔵計測より高く表示されてしまいます。DW1640は内蔵計測と外付け計測では通常Jitterが違うのでしょうか、内蔵とうりにはいかないのでしょうか？最近光学の外付けケースも見なくなりました。
DW1640を外付けにしてにまわして手持ちの外付けで焼きに使用しているドライブに交換して内蔵3台体制にしたいと現在調べまくっているのですがご意見やアドバイス頂けませんでしょうか？
